Hilary Swank, Locusts and Satanists! I'm IN!
Hilary Swank plays a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena who investigates the small town of Haven and finds herself thrown into Biblical plagues of Old Testament proportions.
Sounds like a mouthful, right? The actual plot of The Reaping is far less tintillating.
You expect to see such power and meaning from a film that deals with this particular subject matter. You're waiting for something to rip open your own fleshy vessel and spank your soul into submission. We're still waiting. The plagues weren't as disturbing as you would expect.
However, I liked this film. I took if for what it was and was entertained. This is a Sunday Afternoon Flick, the type of movie you put on in the background while you clean your house.
Hilary Swank is fantastic, as usual, and the science behind all the religious myth kept things fresh.
Definitely check this one out but don't expect masterful revelations.
Shaun, you may not be able to sit through this one without taking some "breaks". I'm sorry buddy, Hilary's stunningly beautiful!
Be sure to check out the website because they have this neat option of sending some plagues to your friends. Check it out: www.thereapingmovie.warnerbros.com
